Area of rectangle = length × breadth

                             = ( 4 + 5 ) cm × 30 cm

                             = 9 cm × 30 cm

                             = 270 cm^2

Now, remaining area is of 2 right angled triangle, they are right angled triangle because this quadrilateral is a rectangle OR distance between lines is same at every place which indicates that they are parallel lines.

Area of 1st Δ = \dfrac{1}{2}\times ( 20 - 9 ) cm \times x cm

                     = \dfrac{1}{2} \times 11cm \times x cm

                     = 5.5 x cm

Area of 2nd Δ = \dfrac{1}{2}\times 11cm \times ( 14 - x)

                        = 5.5( 14 - x ) cm^2

                        = ( 77 - 5.5 x ) cm^2

Area of figure = area of rectangle + area of 1st Δ + area of 2nd rectangle

                        = 270 cm^2 + 5.5 x cm^2 + 77 cm - 5.5 cm^2

                        = 270 cm^2 + 77 cm^2

                        = 347 cm^2

Area of given quadrilateral is 347 cm^2 .
