Solution,

The given figure is made up of two shapes trapezium and rectangle.

We will calculate the area of these two shapes and then add it to obtain the area of the figure.

Area of rectangle = l*b = 10*50 = 500 cm sq.

Area of trapezium = (sum of parallel sides)*height/2

                              = (10+30)*20/2

                               = 400 cm sq.

Area of the figure = area of rectangle + area of trapezium

                              = 500 + 400

                               = 900 cm sq.

Hence, the area of the figure is 900 cm sq.
