Step-by-step explanation:

Given that the triangle is isosceles

Thus, Two sides of a triangle area equal.

Suppose, a ∆ABC is a isosceles triangle , AB = AC and BC = 3cm

Perimeter of the triangle = 8 cm

Now, let the side of a triangle = x

If AB = x = AC

AB + BC + AC = 8 cm

x + x + 3 = 8 cm

2x = 5 cm

x = 2.5 cm

AB = AC = 2.5 cm

Area of a isosceles triangle =

2 \times  \frac{1}{2}  \times  \frac{3}{2}  \times  \sqrt{ {( \frac{5}{2} )}^{2}  - ( { \frac{3}{2} )}^{2} }  \\  =  >  \frac{3}{2}  \times   \sqrt{ \frac{25}{4}  -  \frac{9}{4} }  \\  =  >  \frac{3}{2}  \times  \sqrt{ \frac{16}{4} }  \\  =  >  \frac{3}{2}  \times  \sqrt{4}  \\  =  >  \frac{3}{2}  \times 2 \\  =  > 3 {cm}^{2}
