The area of the outline shapes has been found by counting the number of square boxes.

To Find:

The area of the outline shapes.

Solution:

We have to count the number of square boxes to find the area.

1 square box= 1 m²

(a)It has 10 complete square boxes and 8 half square boxes.

The area of fig(a) = 10×1+ 8/2

= 10+4

= 14 m²

(b)It has 3 complete square boxes and 3 half square boxes.

The area of fig(b) = 3×1+ \frac{3}{2}

=\frac{6+3}{2} \\\\= \frac{9}{2} \ m^{2}

(c)It has 10 complete square boxes, 4 half square boxes, 2 three by four boxes, and 2 one by four.

The area of fig(c) = 10×1+ 4/2 +2 \times\frac{3}{4} + 2 \times \frac{1}{4}

= 10+2+2

=14 m².

(d)It has 4 complete square boxes and 8 half square boxes.

The area of fig(d) = 10×1+ 8/2

= 10+4

=14 m².

(e)It has 18 complete square boxes

The area of fig(e) = 18×1 = 18 m².

(f)It has 4 complete square boxes and  3 boxes(adding all 3/4 and 1/4 boxes)

The area of fig(f) = 4×1 +3

= 7 m².
