Area bounded by a curve with x axis is given by

∫ y dx for limits set by x

In this case x=1 is one limit and other limit set by y=3 which for y=x^2 is x=+/- √3,

Area limits are x= -√3 and x=1 as + √3 >1

∫ y dx= ∫ x^2 dx= x^3/3

At x=1…………..I=1/3

At x =-√3……...I=-√3

Evaluating I=1/3- -√3

Area is 1/3+√3= 1.3333+1.7321=3.0654
