let's take hypotenuse = h,
base = 12cm
perpendicular = 5cm
by phythagoras theorem,
h*h = 12*12 +5*5
h2 = 144+25
h2 = 169
h = 13

area of the triangle =
1 \div 2 \times b \times h
= 30cm2
