Answer:

Area of vertical rectangle = length×breadth

40×2=80cm²

Area of horizontal rectangle=length×breadth

2× 50=100cm²

Area of shaded part=100+80=180cm²

But The central area (box) is common in both therefore we have subtract it's area from the total area..

area of common part=length×breadth

2×2=4cm²

180-4=176cm²
