Area of Big Rectangle = 27 × 17 = 459 m²

Length of smaller rectangle = 27 - (6.25 + 6.25) = 27 -  12.5 = 14.5 m

Breadth of smaller rectangle = 17 - (4 + 4) = 17 - 8 = 9 m

Area of smaller rectangle = 14.5 × 9 = 130.5 m²

Area of shaded portion = Area of big rectangle - Area of small rectangle

                                        = 459 - 130.5

                                        = 328.5 m²
