so in this question we need to find the area of the shaded portion so we know that the big figure is an rectangle

including the one in the centre

we know that opposite sides of rectangle has equal lengths so we first find the area of the horizontal strip is shaded area

so area of rectangle is length x breadth

we get area as 2x18=36.

next we find the area of the vertical shaded portion we get it to be

15x3=45

so total area is 45+36=81

but if you notice we have added the area of the centre small rectangle in the shaded portion twice by adding the area of the two strips so we should subract that area once more to get the correct area

the area of the small rectangle in centre is 3x2=6

so we subract it from the total area we get 81-6=75 m^2

side note please do not forget the units or have mark reduced in exam
