Answer:

first calculate the area of the bigger square

area= 10*10=100cm.sq.

then calculate the area of the small square

area=1*1=1cm

since there are 4 small squares that means total area is 4cm.sq.

1cm*4=4cm.sq.

now subtract the smaller area front the bigger area

100-4=96cm.sq.
