here see figure , if we complete the circle then circle may touch or not touch but questions not mention that .so , we let if we complete all the circle then they touch .

now,
2 × diameter of circle = 14 -6 = 8

diameter = 4 cm

so, radius = 2 cm

and if we join all four points , then square will be formed ,
and edge length of square = 4 cm

now,
area of middle portion = 4 × area of semicircle + area of square
= 4× 1/2π(2)² + (4)² = (8π + 16 ) cm²

now area of shaded portion = area of square - area of without shaded portion
= (14)² -8π -16
= 196 -16 + 8π
=180+ 8π

deepak93: but the answer is 154.88 cm^2..

mysticd: if u want other than shaded region u can get 154.88 cm^2
deepak93: yes the area of shaded region is this one.
mysticd: i.e area other than shaded region= 196 -41.14=154.86 cm^2
deepak93: but how u can say that side of square is 4 and diameter is 2?
mysticd: inside we have a symmetrical figure
deepak93: oh then it will be same values(
deepak93: ??
mysticd: we get square inside then its side length =4 cm
deepak93: ty
mysticd: do you understand
