Now other side of first triangle by Pythagoras Theorem

x^{2} = 12^{2} \times 16^{2}

x^{2} = 400

x = 20

since this side is side of both the triangle so, area of bigger triangle

s = \frac{52 + 48 + 20}{2}

s = 60

so, now

area = \sqrt{(60)(60 - 52)(60 - 48)(60 - 20)}</p><p>= [tex]\sqrt{230400}

=480

now area of smaller triangle

\frac{1}{2} \times 16 \times 12

96

so total shaded area

= 480 - 96

= 384 cm^{2}
