given info : the radii of two concentric circles with center O are 7cm and 14 cm respectively and angle AOC = 40°

To find : area of shaded region shown in figure.

Solution : area of shaded region = area of sector AOC - area of sector BOD

= 40°/360° × πR² - 40°/360° × πr²

= 1/9 πR² - 1/9 πr²

= π/9 (R² - r²)

= 22/7 × 1/9 × (14² - 7²)

= 22/63 × 7 × 21

= 22/3 × 7

= 154/3

= 51.33 cm²

Therefore the area of shaded region will be 51.33 cm²
