Area of shaded region = Area of square − 2*Area of semicircle ————————— 1
Side of the square=14 cm(a)
Area of square=a*a
=14*14=196 cm2
Now,
Radius of semicircle=(14/2)=7 cm(r)
Area of semicircle=(1/2)*pie*r^2
=(1/2)*(22/7)*7*7( the value of pie is (22/7 )or 3.14)
=77 cm2
Area of shaded region=196-2*77 (From 1)
=196-154=42 cm2
Here is your figure

Ar.(shaded region) = 42 cm²

_______________________________

Given :

r = 7 cm

side of square = 14 cm

Solution :

∴ Ar.(square) = (side)²

= (14)²

∴ Ar.(square) = 196 cm²

∴ Ar.(2 semi-circle) = 2 x ½ πr²

= πr²

= ²²⁄₇ x 7 x 7

= 22 x 7

∴ Ar.(2 semi-circle) = 154 cm²

∴ Ar.(shaded region) = Ar.(square) - Ar.(2 semi-circle)

= 196 - 154

∴ Ar.(shaded region) = 42 cm²
