TO FIND : The find the area of the shaded region which is given in figure.

  • PQ = 24 CM
  • PR = 7CM
  • Since, QR is a diameter because it forms semicircle.

Now here i am using pythagoras theorem :

QR = QP² + RP²

QR = √(24)² + ( 7)²

QR = √ 576 + 49

QR = √625

QR = 25

Radius = diameter/2

d = 25

∴ 25/2

Area of shaded region = ( Area of semi - circle ) - ( Area of triangle )

= ( 1/2 πr² ) - ( 1/2 × base × height )

= 1/2 × 22/7 × 25/2 × 25/2 - 1/2 × 7/1 × 24/1

= 6875/28 - 168/2

= 6875 - 2352 / 28

⇒ 4523 / 28 cm²

Hence, The area of the shaded region in the given figure will be :

4523 / 28 cm².
