Let us find the area of the entire figure first and subtract the unshaded region area to find the area of the shaded region.
The given figure is of a square of side 25 cm.
Total area = 25²
=> 625 cm²
The shaded figure inserted is a rhombus.
Apart from this , we can observe four unshaded triangles of equal area.
Area of each individual triangle :
=> ½ × 5 × 20
=> 50 cm²
Area of 4 triangles ;
=> 200 cm²
Remaining area of the shaded figure :
=> 625 - 200
=> 425 cm² .
This is the required answer .
