GIVEN:

Radius of the bigger semi circle = 14 cm

Radius of the each smaller semi circle = 7 cm

  • Area of semicircle = ½ πr²

AREA OF BIGGER SEMICIRCLE = ½ (22/7)× 14²

= ½ × 22/7 × 14 ×14

= 11 × 2×14

= 22×14

= 308 cm²

AREA OF 2 SMALLER SEMICIRCLES = 2 ×½ (22/7) × 7²

= 22 × 7

= 154 cm²

Area of the shaded region = Area of bigger semicircle +

  • Area of 2 smaller semicircles

AREA OF THE SHADED REGION = 308+ 154

= 462 cm²

Hence,

the Area of the shaded region is 462 cm².
