First we will find out the area of 1st rectangle and then we will find out the area of 2nd rectangle and then we will add them.
So let's start..........
area of rectangle = Length × Breadth
= 10m ×8m
= 80m²
but as it is given that a small square is inside the 1st rectangle and occupied it's space we will find out the area of that square an then we will minus the area of square by area of 1st rectangle to find the shaded figure
so the area of square = side × side
= 6m × 6m
= 36m²
so the area shaded on the square:
= 80-36
= 44m²
now the area of 2nd rectangle = L×b
= 6m×2m
= 12m²
so, the shaded area = 12+44
= 56m² ; ans.
