Answer:

32m²

Step-by-step explanation:

length =4m

breadth = 5 +5 =10m

total area of the rectangle = l × b = 4 x 10 = 40m²....i

now, for area of the unshaded region.

it is comprise of two triangles with equal height.

let the first triangle be T1 and the other be T2.

Height of T1 = 4 x 1/2 = 2m

Base =3m

area of a triangle = 1/2 × base × height

=> area of T1 = 1/2 ×3m×2m

=> area of T1= 3m²

Height of T2 = 2m

Base = 5m

=> area of T2 = 1/2 ×5m×2m

=> area of T2 = 5m²

therefore, total area of the unshaded region = area of T1 +T2

=> total area of unshaded region = 3m² + 5m² = 8m²....ii

thus, area of shaded region = total area of the rectangle -

total area of the unshaded region

from i and ii,

area of shaded region = 40m² - 8m² = 32m²
