The area of figure is 29 sq. units .

Explanation:

By drawing a line parallel to base , we get 4 different regions (3 triangles and 1 square)

Formula : Area of triangle = (0.5)(Base)(Height)

Area of square = (side)²

Area of triangle I=(0.5)(2+2+6)(4)=(0.5)(10)(4)=20\text{ sq. units}

Area of triangle II=(0.5)(2)(2)=2\text{ sq. units}

Area of square III=2\times2=4\text{sq. units}

Area of triangle IV=(0.5)(2)(6)=3\text{ sq. units}

Area of the total figure = Area of triangle I +Area of triangle II +Area of square IV+Area of triangle IV

= 20+2+4+3 sq units

= 29  sq units

Therefore , the area of figure is 29 sq. units .
