Looks like a class 8 problem here?
That triangle has it's height and base = (12 - 4 - 4) and 4
= 4 and 4.
Area = 1/2 × 4 × 4
= 8
Area of square (if a construction is done) = 4×4 = 16
Area of the other triangle = 8 [ same as the previous ]
Total area = 8 + 16 + 8
= 32 square units.
