If you draw the diagram, it can be seen that diagonal of square is the diameter of the circle.
diameter = 2 ×8 = 16 m
so, diagonal of square = 16
area = 1/2 ×(diagonal)²
=1/2 ×(16)²
= 128 cm²
method 2
if side is a cm
diagonal = a√2 cm =16
side, a =16/√2 =8√2
area = (side)²
=(8√2)² = 128 cm²
