QuestioN :

Find the area of the square which has same perimeter as a rectangle of length 64 meter and 4 times it's breadth.

GiveN :

  • Rectangle of Length = 64 meter
  • Breadth = 4 times

To FiNd :

  • The area of the square.

ANswer :

The area of the square is 1600 m².

SolutioN :

Let the length of the rectangle be l.

And the breadth of the rectangle be b.

We have given that,

Length is four times the breadth of the rectangle.

∴ l = 4b

⇒ 64 = 4b - - - [ Given ]

⇒ b = 64 ÷ 4

⇒ b = 16 m

From the given condition,

The Perimeter of square = Perimeter of rectangle

⇒ 4 × side = 2 ( l + b )

⇒ 4 × side = 2 ( 64 + 16 )

⇒ 4 × side = 2 × 80

⇒ 4 × side = 160

⇒ side = 160 ÷ 4

⇒ side = 40 m

Now, we know that,

Area of square = ( side )²

⇒ Area of square = ( 40 )²

⇒ Area of square = 40 × 40

⇒ Area of square = 1600 m²

∴ The area of the square is 1600 m².
