Area of a trapezium is given by

1/2 × (sum of parallel sides) × h

= 1/2 × (a1 + a2) × h

So area of first trapezium

= 1/2 × (12 + 8) × 5

= 1/2 × 20 × 5

= 10 × 5

= 50 cm²

Area of second trapezium

= 1/2 × (18 + 6) × 10

= 1/2 × 24 × 10

= 12 × 10

= 120 cm²

Hello!

Question:
---------------
Find the area of the trapazium if a1=length of one parallel side,a2=length of the other parallel side,h=distance between the two parallel sides.

a)a1=12cm,a2=8cm,h=5cm.
b)a1=18cm,a2=6cm,h=10cm.

Solution:

Formula for finding Area of Trapezium,

⇒ 1/2 × (Addition Of Parallel Sides) × h

⇒ 1/2 × (a1 + a2) × h

Finding Area Of First Trapezium,

⇒ 1/2 × (a1 + a2) × h

⇒ 1/2 × (12 + 8) × 5

⇒ 1/2 × 20 × 5

⇒ 10 × 5

⇒ 50 cm²

Again,
Finding Area of Second Trapezium,

⇒ 1/2 × (a1 + a2) × h

⇒ 1/2 × (18 + 6) × 10

⇒ 1/2 × 24 × 10

⇒ 12 × 10

⇒ 120 cm²

Hope It Helps!
