Given:

A trapezium with

  • Base 1 = a = 15 cm
  • Base 2 = b = 20 cm
  • Altitude (Height) = h = 8 cm

What To Find:

We have to find the

  • Area of the trapezium

Formula For Finding:

\sf{Area \: of \: trapezium = \dfrac{a + b}{2} \times h}

Solution:

Using the formula,

\sf{Area \: of \: trapezium = \dfrac{a + b}{2} \times h}

Substitute the values,

\sf{Area \: of \: trapezium = \dfrac{15 + 20}{2} \times 8}

Add the numerator,

\sf{Area \: of \: trapezium = \dfrac{35}{2} \times 8}

Cancel 2 and 8,

\sf{Area \: of \: trapezium = 35 \times 4}

Multiply 35 by 4,

\sf{Area \: of \: trapezium = 140 \: cm^2}

∴ So, the area of the trapezium is 140 cm².
