first we have make three rectangle as make in the figures
in the rectangle one t the length is 3 cm while the breadth is 1 cm
the area of rectangle is equal to l * b
3 cm *5 cm
=15 cm
in the rectangle second the length is 4 cm and the breadth is 1 cm the area of a rectangle is length X breadth
4 cm X 1 cm
=4 cm a square
the third angle is same as a second rectangle so it is also 4 cm square
now we add all three rectangles
the sum is 15 CM + 4cm +4 cm
=23 cm square
the area is 23 centimetre square
