To find :

area of the triangle ABC

Given :

AB = AC = 13

BC = 10

Formula to be used :

  • Area of triangle (heron's Formula )

 \sqrt{s(s - a)(s - b)(s - c)}

where, s is the semi perimeter of the triangle

Solution:

semi perimeter = (10+13+13)/2

= (36)/2

= 18

so, area of the triangle:

 \sqrt{s(s - a)(s - b)(s - c)}  \\  =  \sqrt{18(18 - 13)(18 - 13) (18 - 10)}  \\  =  \sqrt{18 \times 5 \times 5 \times 8}  \\  = 5 \sqrt{2 \times 3 \times 3 \times 2 \times 2 \times 2}  \\  = 5 \times 2 \times 2 \times 3 \\  = 60

so, area of the triangle = 60
