Let a , b ,c be the sides of the given triangle and s is the semi-perimeter:

  • a = 8 cm
  • b= 5cm
  • c= 5cm

We know that, s = 1/2 (a + b + c)

1/2 (8 +5 + 4) = 1/2× 18 = 18/2 = 9cm.

Now,

Area of = s (s- a) (s -b) (s-c)

Area of ∆ = 9 (9-8) (9-5) (9-5)

Area of ∆ = 9×1×4×4

Area of ∆ = 144

Area of ∆ = 12cm
