Let a , b ,c be the sides of the given triangle and s is the semi-perimeter:
- a = 8 cm
- b= 5cm
- c= 5cm
We know that, s = 1/2 (a + b + c)
→ 1/2 (8 +5 + 4) = 1/2× 18 = 18/2 = 9cm.
Now,
Area of ∆ = √s (s- a) (s -b) (s-c)
Area of ∆ = √9 (9-8) (9-5) (9-5)
Area of ∆ = √ 9×1×4×4
Area of ∆ = √144
Area of ∆ = 12cm
