Answer:

80m²

Step-by-step explanation:

First you find the area of rectangle with length 5m and breadth 4m. Area =4×5=20m²

Second you find area of larger rectangle. Length 8m and breadth 5m. Area= 8×5=40m²

Third you find area of shaded triangle. Height= 5m and Base= 8m. Area= 1/2 × base × height = 1/2 ×5 × 8 = 20 m²

Finally add the areas of all the regions = 40m² +20m² + 20m² = 80m².

Solved. Hope it helps.

To find : Area of shaded region

Given :

  • AB = 5 m
  • AH = 4 m = BC
  • GH = 8 m = CF
  • AG = 4+8 = 12 m
  • GF = AB = 5 m
  • FE = 5 m
  • DE = 5 m

Steps to follow :

  • Find area of all figure
  • Subract area of ∆DEF from it

Formula used :

  • Area of rectangle = length× breadth
  • Area of triangle = (1/2) base × height
  • Area of trapezium = (1/2)×(sum of parallel side) × distance between them

Solution :

Area of rectangle ABFG = AG × AB

Area of rectangle ABFG = 12 m × 5 m

Area of rectangle ABFG = 60 m²

Area of trapezium CDEF = (1/2)×(DE+CF)×(EF)

Area of trapezium CDEF = (1/2)×(5+8)×(5) m²

Area of trapezium CDEF = (1/2)×(13)×(5)

Area of trapezium CDEF = 32.5 m²

Area of ∆DEF = (1/2)×(DE)×(EF)

Area of ∆DEF = (1/2)×5×5

Area of ∆DEF = 12.5 m²

Area of shaded region = (Area of rectangle ABFG + Area of trapezium CDEF) - Area of ∆DEF

Area of shaded region = 60 m² + 32.5 m² - 12.5 m²

Area of shaded region = 80 m²

ANSWER : Area of shaded region = 80
