Hey Mate,

Average : \frac{Sum of Quantities}{Number of Quantities}

Given,

Average of First 6 items is 37. Average of Next 4 items is 42.

Then,

Sum of the First 6 items = 37 * 6

( ∵ Sum of Quantities = ( Number of Quantities * Average ))

Sum of the first 6 items = 222

Now,

Sum of the Next 4 items = 42 * 4

( ∵ Sum of Quantities = ( Number of Quantities * Average ))

Sum of the Next 4 items = 168

Now, Sum of all 10 items = 222 + 168 = 390

Now, Average of these items = 390/10

( ∵ Average = ( Sum of Quantities / Number of Quantities ))

Average of 10 items = 39.

Therefore, the Average of 10 items is 39, when the Average of First 6 items is 37 and rest 4 items is 42.

Hope it Helps!
