Given

  • Area of the triangle = 16 hectares
  • Height of the triangle = 40 dam

To find

  • Base of the triangle

Solution

Firstly, we will make the units same.

As we know,

• 1 hectare = 10000 m²

~Multiply the value by 10000 m²

⟶ 16 × 10000

⟶ 160000 m²

Area of the triangle = 160000 m²

Height of the triangle = 40 dam

As we know,

• 1 dam = 10 m

~Multiply the value by 10 m.

⟶ 40 × 10

⟶ 400 m

Height of the triangle = 400 m

Formula to be used :-

Area of the triangle = 1/2 × b × h

where,

  • b = base of the triangle
  • h = height of the triangle

Substituting the given values,

⟶ 160000 = 1/2 × b × 400

⟶ 160000 = 200 × b

⟶ 160000/200 = b

⟶ 800 = b

∴ Base of the triangle = 800 m

______________________________

Verification :-

Area of the triangle = 1/2 × b × h

⟶ 1/2 × 800 × 400

⟶ 400 × 400

160000 m²

Hence, verified.
