If the number divides 77 and leave remainder 7, 77 - 7 = 70 is a multiple of the number.

If the number divides 88 and leave remainder 4, 88 - 4 = 84 is a multiple of the number.

If the number divides 103 and leave remainder 5, 103 - 5 = 98 is a multiple of the number.

Let's find the HCF of 70, 84 and 98.

2 | 70, 84, 98

7 | 35, 42, 49

| 5, 6, 7

HCF = 2 x 7 = 14

∴ 14 is the biggest number which divides them to leave the given remainders respectively.
