Answer:

(a) A towel at Rs 50

Sales tax = 5%

Cost including sales tax = 50 +\frac{5}{100} \times 50

                                       = 52.5

So, Cost of towel including sales tax is Rs. 52.5

(b) Two bars of soap at Rs 35 each

Cost of 1 bar = Rs.35

Cost of 2 bars = 35 \times 2 = 70

Sales tax = 5%

Cost including sales tax = 70 +\frac{5}{100} \times 70

                                       = 73.5

So, Cost of 2 bars of soap including sales tax is Rs. 73.5

(c) 5 kg of flour at Rs 15 per kg

Cost of 1 kg of sugar = Rs.15

Cost of 5 kg of sugar =15 \times 5 = 75

Sales tax = 5%

Cost including sales tax = 75 +\frac{5}{100} \times 75

                                       = 78.75

So, Cost of 5 kg of flour including sales tax is Rs. 78.75
