Kinetic Energy = 1/2mv^2
Now,
If velocity (v1) = 1/3
Kinetic Energy = 1/2m * v1^2 = 1/2 * m * (1/3v)^2
= 1/2m*1/9v^2.
Thus,
Kinetic Energy will become 1/9th of the original kinetic energy if the velocity becomes 1/3rd of the original velocity.
