Given:

pK_a = 4.74

Conc. of salt (CH_3COONa) = 0.01M

Conc. of acid (CH_3COOH) = 0.01 M

To find:

Change in pH = ?

Formula to be used:

Herderson - Hasselblach formula

Calculation:

By using the Herderson - Hasselblach formula, it gives

pH = pK_a+log\frac{Conc. of salt}{Conc. of acid}

pH = 4.74 + log \frac{0.01}{0.01}

pH = 4.74

Conclusion:

As pH value and pK_a value are same, it means that the concentration is same and there is no change in the pH.
