find the co ordinates of points which divides the line segment joining the points (A=4,6)&(B=9,6) ratio 4:1 (section formula) help

sakshi4019: x1=4, y1=6, x2=9 ,y2=6, m=4, n=1 by section formula x= mx2+ nx1 / m+n=4(9)+1(4) / 4+1 =36+4/5=40/5=8/1 Y=my2 + ny1 / m+n=4(6)+1(6) /4+1=24+6/5=30/5=6/1

Answer:

Let's M:N=4:1

and

X1=4

X 2=9

Y1=6

Y2=6

point be (X,Y)

Now solution

Section formula

X= (M*X2+N*X1)/(M+N)

X= (4*9+1*4)/(4+1)

X= (36+4)/5

X = 40/5

X= 8

Y=(M*Y2+N*Y1)/(M+N)

Y=(4*6+1*6)/(4+1)

Y=(24+6)/5

Y=30/5

Y=6

So, required point be(8,6)
