Given :

  • 1.7 , 2 , 2.3 , 2.6 , …(1)

To Find :

  • Common Difference.

Solution :

  • Consider the general expression of an arithmetic sequence.

\longmapsto\tt{{a}_{1}{a}_{2}{a}_{3}.....{a}_{n}....(2)}

Comparing equation (1) and (2) as follows.

\longmapsto\tt{{a}_{1}=1.7}

Common difference (d) of an arithmetic sequence can be obtained by choosing any term apart from first number in the sequence and subtiacting with a preceding term.

Consider 2 in the sequence and the prececding number therefore the Common difference can be calculated as follows.

\longmapsto\tt{d={a}_{2}-{a}_{1}}

\longmapsto\tt{d=2-1.7}

\longmapsto\tt\bold{d=0.3}

Hence, the first term if the sequence is 1.7 and the common difference of the sequence is 0.3.
