here is your answer....

for equal roots....

b^2 - 4ac = 0

here a = 1 , b = -a , c = a + 2

put the values of a,b and c

(-a)^2 - 4 × 1 × (a + 2) = 0

a^2 - 4a - 8 = 0

after this u can solve it by quadratic formula.... and can find the value of a

hope this will help u...

stranded form of quadratic equations is

ax²+bx+c

where, a=1 b=-a and c=a+2

b²-4ac=0

(-a) -4(1) (a+2)=0

a²-4a+8=0

from here a=1 ,b=-4 ,c=8

Now,

x=-b+/- /b²-4ac÷2a

=4+/- /16+4(1) (-8)÷2

=4+/- /48÷2

=4+/- /16×3 ÷2

=4+/- 4/3÷2

=2+/-2/3

a=2+ 2/3 or

=2- 2/3
