Given,

Two ratios, 75cm:1m 25cm and ₹10:₹7.50

To Find,

The compound ratio of the given two ratios.

Solution,

A compound ratio is also termed a Mixed ratio.

A mixed ratio indicates the new ratio obtained by multiplying two or more ratios' corresponding antecedents and consequents.

The first ratio as per the question = \frac{75 cm}{1m 25 cm}

A meter has 100 cm.

Thus on substitution, we can replace 1m25cm with 100+25 cm, = 125 cm.

Thus the first ratio = \frac{75}{125}

The second ratio as per the question = \frac{Rs.10}{Rs. 7.50}

A rupee has 100paise.

Thus on substitution, we can replace ₹7.50 with 700+50paise, = 750paise.

Similarly, ₹10 can be written as 10×100 = 1000paise

Thus the second ratio = \frac{1000}{750}

The antecedents in the first and second ratios are 75 and 1000 respectively.

The consequents in the first and second ratios are 125 and 750 respectively.

Thus the compound ratio = \frac{(75)(1000)}{(125)(750)}

\frac{100}{125} = \frac{4}{5}  (∵ 25×4 =100 and 25×5 = 125)

Henceforth, the compound ratio of the given two ratios is \frac{4}{5}.
