Given that the ratios are 2:3 and 4:9

By the definition of the Compounded ratio :

The ratio obtained when we compound the two or more ratios through multiplication term wise.

For any two ratios m:n and p:q their compounded ratio is given by mp : nq

From the given ratios 2:3 and 4:9 then their compounded ratios can be written as

2(4) : 3(9)

⇒ 8:27 or $\frac{8}{27}$

∴ the compounded ratio is 8:27 or $\frac{8}{27}$
