Find the condition that the point (x, y) may lie on the line joining (3,4) and (-5,-6)......

Can we write the answer as ----
Let coordinate x, y divide the line into the ratio m/n so if

-5m+3n/m+n and 4n-6m/m+n=x,y

Then the coordinate will lie on the line


Is it right or wrong???
