Question :-- find the coordinates of point P which divides the join of A(5,7) and B(3,-5) in the ratio 2:3 ....

Formula used :--

x = (mx2+nx1)/(m+n)

y =(my2+ny1)/(m+n)

Solution :---

here ,

x1 = 5, x2 = 3

y1 = 7 , y2 = (-5)

m = 2 , n = 3

Putting all values in above formula we get,

x = (2*3+3*5)/(2+3) = (6+15)/5 = (21/5)

→ y = (2*-5+3*7)/(2+3) = (-10+21)/5 = (11/5)

Hence, the co - ordinates of P are (21/5 , 11/5)
