Find the coordinates of the midpoint of the segment given its endpoint
F(2,-6) and G(-8,5)

Midpoint Formula : X1+X2/2 , Y1+Y2/2

=> 2+(-8)/2 , -6+5/2

=> -6/2 , -1/2

=> -3 , -1/2

Hence coordinates are ( -3,-1/2)

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows

It is given,

(x1, y1) = (2,-6)

And,

(x2, y2) = (-8,5)

Applying the formula to find the midpoint coordinates of the segments

Let the x coordinate of the midpoint be x0

And, The y coordinate of the midpoint be y0/

x0 = (x1 + x2)/2

x0 =  \frac{2  - 8}{2}  =  - 3

y0 = (y1+y2)/2

y0 =  \frac{ - 6 + 5}{2}  =  - 0.5

So, The coordinates of the midpoint are (-3,-0.5)
