find the coordinates of the point which divides the join of(-1,7) and (4,-3) in the ratio 2:3
give ans urgent by step by step and easy form full explanation
Answers
Step-by-step explanation:
A(-1,7)___________P_________________B(4,-3)
2. 3
Coordinate of point P = 2×4+3×(-1)/2+3,
2×(-3)+3×7/2+3
8-3/5,-6+21/5
1,3
So the points are (1,3)
Solution :-
Let us Assume that, The points P(x,y) divides the line (-1,7) and (4,-3) in the ratio 2 : 3.
Than,
→ x = (m1x2 + m2x1) / (m1 + m2)
→ y = (m1y2 + m2y1) / (m1 + m2)
where,
- m1 = 2
- m2 = 3
- x1 = (-1)
- x2 = 4
- y1 = 7
- y2 = -3
Putting values now, we get,
→ x = (2*4 + 3*(-1)) / (2 + 3)
→ x = ( 8 - 3) / 5
→ x = 5/5
→ x = 1 .
Similarly,
→ y = (2*(-3) + 3*7) / (2 + 3)
→ y = (-6 + 21) / 5
→ y = (15/5)
→ y = 3.
Hence, the Required Points are (1 , 3).
