Step-by-step explanation:

a point on X axis = ( a, 0 )

distance from tat point to ( - 4 , 8 )= 10 units

distance =  \sqrt{(x2 - x1) ^{2}   + (y2 - y1) ^{2} }

10 =  \sqrt{(a + 4) ^{2}  +( 0 - 8) ^{2} }

10 =  \sqrt{(a + 4) ^{2}  + 64}

squaring \: on \: both \: sides

100 = (a + 4) ^{2}  + 64

(a + 4) ^{2}  = 36

a + 4 = 6 \: or \:  a+ 4 =  - 6

a = 2 \: or \: a =  - 10

required \: coordinates \: are \:

(2,0) , (-10,0)
