Find the cordinate of a point on the line segmant joining A(1,2),and B (-2,7) is divided by x axis Also finds the coordinates of the point of division.

Let the required coordinate be P(0,x)

Let P intersect AB in ratio k:1

coordinate of P=k(-2)+1/(k+1) and k(7)+2/(k+1)

=1-2k/(k+1) and 7k +2/(k+1)

A/q. 1-2k/(k+1)=0

1-2k= 0

k=1/2

Ratio=1/2:1=1:2

coordinate of P=(0 and{7(1/2)+2}/(1/2+1)

= 0 and (11/2)/(3/2)

=0 and 11/3.
