To Find :

Find the cost of fencing a rectangular lawn at rs 3.50 per meter

Solution:

We are given that the sides are in the ratio of 5:3

Let the ratio be x

So, Length of lawn = 5x

Breadth of lawn = 3x

Area of lawn = Length \times Breadth = 5x \times 3x = 15x^2

We are given that the area of lawn is 2160 sq.m.

So,15x^2 = 2160 \\\Rightarrow x^2 = \frac{2160}{15}\\\Rightarrow x=\sqrt{\frac{2160}{15}}\\\Rightarrow x = 12

So, Length of lawn = 5x=5(12)=60 m

Breadth of lawn = 3x=3(12)=36 m

Perimeter of lawn =2(l+b)=2(60+36)=192 m

So, cost of 1 fencing 1 m = Rs.3.50

Cost of fencing 192 m = 3.50 \times 192 =672

Hence The cost of fencing a rectangular lawn at rs 3.50 per meter is Rs.672
