Given,

Length of the diagonal of the quadrilateral plot is 75 metres.

The length of the offsets of the quadrilateral plot are 50 metres and 40 metres.

Cost rate of levelling Rs. 2.5 metres per square metre.

To find,

The total cost of levelling.

Solution,

If we divide the quadrilateral into two imaginary triangles which are situated in two sides of the diagonal then we just need to find the sum of the area of those two triangles to calculate the area of the quadrilateral.

Here,

Base of two triangles = Diagonal of the quadrilateral = 75 metres

Height of first triangle = First offset of the quadrilateral = 50 metres

Height of second triangle = Second offset of the quadrilateral = 40 metres

So,

Area of first triangle = 1/2 × 75 × 50 =  1875 m²

Area of second triangle = 1/2 × 75 × 40 = 1500 m²

Area of quadrilateral = 1875+1500 = 3375 m²

Now,

Cost for 1 m² = Rs. 2.5

Cost for 3375m² = 3375×2.5 = Rs. 8437.50

Hence, the total cost of levelling is Rs. 8437.50
