multiplying eq(ii) by 4

[x-y = 60]×4

⇒4x-4y = 240 -----(iii)

adding eq (iii) from (i),

5x+4y = 1560

4x- 4y = 240

⇒x = 1800/9

⇒x = 200

Putting value of x in eq (ii)

200-y = 60

⇒y = 200-60
