Find the cost price of an article which is sold at Rs 630 at a profit of 12.5%

Given,

Sold  Price = R.s. 630

Profit = 12.5 %

Let the cost  price  of the article  be R.s x

We know  that  % of profit  is  measured with respect  to cost price

Hence,

Profit = 12.5% of cost  price

         = x × 12.5/100

         = R.s 0.125x

Again,

Sold Price = cost  price + profit

630 = x + 0.125x

630 = 1.125x

x = 630/1.125

x =  560

Cost  price  of  article  = R.s. 560
